About the volunteering opportunity

Many people suffer from traumatization due to their refugee and migration background. The majority do not receive professional therapeutic help. Trauma first aid offers a low-threshold and multipliable tool for primary intervention after severe traumatization. It is not a therapy, but an effective and easy-to-understand initial measure. The concept is based on explaining the effects of traumatization together with simple physical exercises. The aim is to reduce individual symptoms and improve psychological resilience. Trauma first aid also sees itself as a contribution to combating violence and the causes of flight.

The project is funded by the European Union.

Your Tasks

Trauma first aiders assist traumatized people, if possible in their native language. After qualifying as a native-speaking trauma first aider, consisting of four full days of training and a date for supervision, assignments can be taken on. After the first round of training, native-speaking trauma first responders can be requested through ArrivalAid. As their experience grows, first aiders are given the opportunity to qualify as multipliers, so that they themselves can teach the concept to new first aiders.
