Guidance of a discussion group for carers with LGBTI focus

The Berliner Kontaktstellen Pflegeengagement (Berlin Contact Points for Care Commitment) provide support services for the target group of carers, including discussion groups. This is a new group and is geared towards the LGBTI target group in order to give older people in this community a protected framework.

The task is to lead or moderate a group of, mostly, older people.

Since the participants are usually highly stressed, it is your task to moderate a pleasant setting and a well-structured session.

As this is an LGBTI-focused group, you should have experience within this community yourself and have a queer lifestyle.

Experience working with older people and their issues around caring for a loved one at home should not be a deterrent, experience in the psychosocial field is beneficial/desirable.

This is very moving work and you need a good professional distance from the issues discussed in the group.

The group meeting is 1 x monthly for 1.5 hours, plus preparation and follow-up.

The group meets every 4th Thursday of the month from 5 - 6:30 pm.

A training for volunteers, professional accompaniment, psychosocial relief talks, culture of recognition, compensation for expenses are guaranteed by us.
