About the volunteering opportunity
We are currently looking for support in learning German for a man from Afghanistan (mid-40s, family man) who is currently living with his family in a shared accommodation facility in Neukölln-Buckow. He does not speak much German (A1-A2) and would like someone to meet with him regularly, so that he can improve his language skills in a relaxed atmosphere.
The mentoring project run by our MARIE volunteering office brings together people from Berlin who want to support other people. We are looking for committed people who accompany refugees or other groups of people in need of support and make it easier for them to settle into a new environment. Personal contact at eye level in particular helps people to get to know each other better and learn from each other. Prejudices can be broken down and replaced by shared experiences.

We advise interested parties on the opportunities and framework conditions for volunteering in the district association's facilities and projects.
We place interested volunteers in a suitable placement.
