About the volunteering opportunity

Do you enjoy singing and want to share this joy with others? Our residential community near Plötzensee (Wedding) is looking for a committed volunteer who regularly sings and plays music with our residents. Our group consists of men and women with intellectual disabilities and sometimes additional mental illness, from the age of 18. A piano is available, and folk songs and pop songs are particularly popular.

Your Tasks

  • Regular meetings to sing together with the residents.
  • Accompaniment on the piano (if possible) or simple guidance while singing.
  • Creating a cheerful and motivating atmosphere for the music lessons.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
  • Enjoyment and experience in singing, preferably also playing the piano.
  • Empathy and patience in dealing with people with disabilities.
  • Regular availability on a fixed weekday, every 14 days or once a month.
  • No special previous knowledge of working with people with disabilities required, but welcome. We offer free training if you want to learn more!

Time required

Regularly

  • Regularly on a weekday, by arrangement.
  • Flexible times, preferably in the afternoon from 03:00 pm, mornings also possible.
  • Duration of the meetings approx. 1-2 hours.

Important notice

A member of staff will always be present at the first appointments and will remain within reach to offer support later on. Your musical accompaniment will bring a lot of joy to our residents and significantly improve their quality of life.
