Volunteering durin the Lockdown | How you can get involved from home
The lockdown has been extended for the time being until 7 March and many of us spend most of our time – apart from a few walks – within our own four walls. This surely leads to a feeling of weariness when the possibilities to be active are so limited. Fortunately, you don’t have to remain completely inactive, but can even do something good with your time. Many social organisations now offer projects that operate completely virtually and in which you can easily get involved by volunteering from home – even now during the Lockdown.
So if you feel like “getting out of the house” again, you’ll find some interesting volunteering opportunities here.
1 I Join the Welcome Talks for newcomers and locals organised by Nachbarschaftsheim Schöneberg e.V.

With the Welcome Talks, the project Lebendige Nachbarschaft (Living Neighbourhood) of the Nachbarschaftsheim Schöneberg e.V. has created a digital format in which Berliners and Newcomers can get to know each other digitally via Zoom and exchange their stories.

3 I Have a digital conversation with women who want to practice German at the women’s meeting BENN (for women & LGBTQI* only)

At the women’s meeting BENN (Berlin Entwickelt Neue Nachbarschaften), long-established neighbours and refugee women who live in the accommodation or flats in the neighbourhood meet. In a relaxed atmosphere over a cup of tea or coffee, German language skills are taught and homework is solved together. Sometimes neighbourly help is also organised.

4 I Support Visions for Children e.V. with the creation of corporate design templates

You have an eye for design and are skilled in using PowerPoint, Word and maybe even one or two of the Adobe programmes? Then support Visions for Children e.V., which works to create sustainable learning conditions for children in conflict areas.

5 I Support the Zentrum ÜBERLEBEN in designing new digital fundraising formats

At the Zentrum ÜBERLEBEN, survivors of violence and flight as well as people with different migration experiences find medical, psychotherapeutic, social work and integrative support.
Due to the current Corona situation, the organisation now wants to develop new interactive digital fundraising formats. Together with the Zentrum-ÜBERLEBEN team, you will work on the conception and implementation of new fundraising ideas. 6 I Create an animated short video for the Aelius Förderwerk e.V. for disadvantaged children and young people

The non-profit organisation Aelius Förderwerk e.V. supports disadvantaged children and young people on their educational path – through personal mentoring, advice on e.g. financing studies or job applications, as well as various workshops.
