Yesterday's bread, yoghurt that will expire in a few days, fruit and vegetables that have not been sold... these are all foods that would end up in our rubbish. On the other hand, there are about 66,000 people in Stuttgart and the surrounding area who live on the edge of the subsistence level. The Schwäbische Tafel Stuttgart e.V. has made it its business to collect this food and to pass it on to needy people in its own food shops for a small contribution towards costs.
More about the organisationThe Schwäbische Tafel Stuttgart e.V. has set itself the task of collecting unobjectionable food that should be destroyed and handing it over to needy people in its own shops for a contribution towards costs. The aim of Schwäbische Tafel Stuttgart e.V. is to set an example against the "throwaway society" and at the same time to improve the living situation of needy people in the food sector.
One of our supporting pillars are the volunteers at the Tafel, whose help makes it possible for us to cope with our daily work. Our volunteers contribute their talents and skills and support us in all areas through their civic commitment. We are happy about every helping hand, because it is needed.
