About the volunteering opportunity
We are looking for students who would like to give free tutoring to a child in financial need or teenager once a week in one-to-one lessons.
The tutoring takes place according to your wishes either in a public location of our cooperation partners in your area or online. When registering, you decide which subjects, grade levels and types of school you would like to teach and we will find a suitable student for you.
Your Tasks
As a tutor, you support your mentored child in mastering the school curriculum and you can also go on excursions and other leisure activities. The organization of the tutoring sessions is largely up to you. We cover the costs and support you with advice and learning and teaching materials.
In addition, we offer monthly basic training for new tutors and workshops on various tutoring topics.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
- Previous experience in tutoring is not necessary.
- You should have at least half a year for the commitment. Frequent changes of tutors are unfavorable for the children and adolescents.
- Reliability is important, both in communication with the site director and to your student
Time required
One tutoring session per week, or more if agreed with your student.
Additional travel or preparation time may be required.
During internships and exam periods, the commitment can be paused after consultation.
