Hold educational lectures at schools in Flensburg + surrounding area on the topic of malnutrition

Schools against hunger is our annual school project throughout Germany. For the Flensburg region and surrounding area, we are looking for committed people who would like to support us with our themed presentations. The sports and education project draws the attention of children and young people to the problem of malnutrition in the world. At the same time, it enables them to get socially involved through sport. The project pursues three goals:

1. Education: The Schools Against Hunger team visits schools to inform children and young people about malnutrition, reports on the work in our project countries and how we are fighting hunger worldwide. Every year, we offer new topics, such as the links between climate change and hunger.

2. Sport: The children and young people then get involved in sport for a world without hunger. The schools usually organize a charity run. The pupils have previously mobilized their families and friends as sponsors: For each lap they run, they receive a fixed donation amount, which motivates them in their social commitment and at the same time supports the work of Action Against Hunger.

3. A world without hunger: In recent years, Action Against Hunger has been able to help more than 28 million people in around 55 countries and regions in areas such as nutrition, water and hygiene.

The Schools Against Hunger team takes on the acquisition of schools as well as the organization and implementation of educational lectures nationwide. We are looking for committed volunteers who want to support the project from the Flensburg region and surrounding area. In close contact and exchange with our employees, you would travel to the schools in the region and give our educational lectures to the school classes. Your place of residence should preferably be in this area. The content of the presentations has already been prepared. During a two-day workshop, you will be prepared in detail for the presentation and equipped with sound background knowledge on malnutrition, its causes and our work in the respective project countries. In addition, you will be shown pedagogical tools and methods that promise lasting success for your presentations

Your Tasks

We are convinced that no one in the world should have to suffer from hunger. Action against Hunger fights for a world without hunger and need. For everyone. Forever. Our goal: to save lives and restore hope to people in need. For over 40 years, we have been fighting against malnutrition, creating access to clean water and health care.

Change the world and join us in the fight for a world without hunger by:

• presenting interactive themed talks (online and offline) to children and young people of all ages (elementary school, middle school and high school).
• using the themed presentations to raise awareness of the issue of malnutrition among pupils and motivate them to get socially involved in a world without hunger in a sporty way.
• preparing for the educational presentations with the help of our materials and professional support.

Gaining insights into an internationally active development and humanitarian aid organization and making a significant contribution to our goal of a world without hunger.

What's needed

Who we are looking for:

• You want to change the world.
• Ideally you already have some experience with giving talks to groups of all ages and enjoy working with children and young people.
• You can arrange trips to schools in your state (or the surrounding area)

Time required

Time required approx. 5 hours per month (depending on how many presentations you would like to give)
